Our Nursery

The Old School House opened in 1990 and follows the Montessori method of education, working in conjunction with the Early Years Foundation Stage to promote the development of all children to their maximum potential, offering parents support in promoting their child's development.  Parents are invited to join their child for the introductory visits.

We take children from 12 months of age in our Toddler Unit and children generally remain in the Toddler Unit until the age of 2 ½ to 3 years.  The ratio here is 1 member of staff to 3 children.

Children in the Toddler Unit are invited to join the main Nursery when they are ready and according to availability.  A member of the Toddler Unit staff spends an introductory morning with each child in the main Nursery.

Children enter the main Nursery from the age of 2 ½ / 3 years up to school age (according to availability).  The staff ratio in here is 1 to 6.

We support children with additional needs and support parents in working with specialist agency staff.
